Upcoming Teleseminars

by Karen

I’ve been thinking about the purpose and usefulness of my monthly Teleseminar Series.  I had been initially calling them teletrainings, but I think “training” is the wrong word.

I want these monthly meetings to be a place where all of us (me included) can get a little bit better at statistics.  Improve our capacity.  Become better researchers.  Hear how things are done in other fields.  It’s for those of us who love perpetual learning and mindful self improvement.  And done in an intuitive and non-threatening way.

I’m also realizing that the medium affects what we can talk about and how we can talk about it.  I’ve included handouts in my first two, but handouts are not a powerpoint.  And while I do want to inform, I don’t really want to give “presentations”.  At least not entirely.  And I think the usefulness of having the recording is much improved by not relying too much on visuals.  I want you to be able to learn in situations that you might not otherwise–while you’re on the treadmill or the bus.

So I’m going to experiment with some different formats.  And I’m still trying to think of a good name that captures what I’m thinking of.  If you have any ideas for either, please comment below or email me.
